Well it’s time to get planning again as we now have my step sons Shengen visa sorted out, long story but its taken 18 months of disappointment due to one European State being obstructive in issuing visa now resolved by an alternative State following the bloody rules and issuing within a week…..

Anyway we are all set with 3 basic objectives

1 Get to Salzburg for the Mozart festival performance of the Mass in C on the 23rd July
2 Visit our good friends in Aix En Provence – sadly only for one night
3 Get the stang to the villa in Spain for the summer. Woo Hoo.

All to be done in just over a week with 5 hrs or less driving per day apart from the last (boring) leg.

Provisional routing is as follows

Day 1 (Saturday) Harwich to Hook of Holland (day crossing) and overnight in the Holiday Inn Amsterdam
Day 2 Amsterdam to the Ring (2nd time for this car) lunch and sight seeing then onwards to a camp site in Kirchzell SE of Frankfurt
Day 3 Kirchzell to Salzburg (5 hrs) try to arrive at the hotel by mid afternoon ready for evening concert.
Day 4 Morning in Salzburg then onwards to camping at Walenstadt Swizerland via Innsbruck taking in sights on the way. Google maps has this as a 4hr drive but I’m not so sure!
Day 5 Walenstadt to lake Geneva camping only 3hrs 45m but expect to be stopping for piccys etc quite a lot.
Day 6 Geneva to Aix En Provence 5 hr sprint staying with friends overnight ( need to make sure GPS has speed trap data hidden and hide snooper!).
Day 7 Aix to camp site in Aude but via detour to Millau Viaduct
Day 8 Aude down to Andorra camping (fantastic sightseeing and duty free shopping)
Day 9 Andorra to Javea 6 hr sprint

Day 10 Sleep it off in our villa!

I’m aware of the new French rules on breathalyzers in the car and safety camera warnings.
Any comments or recommendations for things to see – especially on the Swiss part of the journey- welcome.

Thanks
