Prompted by another thread of mine, I'm going to take a stand on this and I invite others to join me.

There are excellent business men (and women) on PH. Excellent drivers. Excellent mechanics. Excellent cyclists. Fire men (and women). Policemen (and women), charity workers etc etc. But its very possible (likely) that not all those people will be excellent (or even good) at spelling or grammar. Whether that is a good thing or not is another argument.

And these people are (mainly) valuable contributers. Key word that, contributers. Because as long as thier message is transmitted and understood the way they intended it to be, a contribution is what they have made.

Text speak, I unapologetically think we here are better than. But by flying into a rage over a minute piece of incorrect grammar or spelling that in no way confuses the actual message of the post, you are NOT contributing. You are being a dick. Please just try much harder. In general.

All very well, but since posts on PH are not made with any time constraint, it appears to some readers of poorly-spelled posts that "not being a good speller" is awfully close to "can't be bothered just to check my spelling before I hit the 'submit' button".
