Quick question......
How much oil will I be needing for a straight forward oil change on a 4.0 Chimaera?
I'm sure if I could be bothered to spend 2 hours checking the history I'd find it but some bright spark will have the details to hand (I hope)

A shade over a gallon (I think it's officially 5.something litres)

You'll need 2 cans is the bottom line

put the new oil in IMMEDIATELY after you've drained the old stuff, if you leave it you may need to re-prime the oil pump

Cheers, already been told that one, and fill the filter with oil (which will then pour down your arm when your screwing it on) and start the engine as soon as you've finished

My handbook says 5.0L but I've been told that the service spec sheets say around 6L. I bought 2 x 4L of Mobil 1 15w-50 and gave to the garage to use for my service. They managed to put all 8L in.

I asked for what was left for topping up and they said there wasn't any.

I gave my garage just under 6 litres of Mobil 1 15w50 and the oil level on the dip stick was just under the "max" mark. I was told it`s a generous 5 litres plus extra for the oil filter

Should be 6.5 litres to the max mark on the dipstick including filter change.
The serpentine engine does not require you to be too swift when changing the filter. Putting oil in a filter during any car's oil change is good practice, depending on filter orientation.
