I have spent a bit of time on the Griffith this weekend, giving it a polish, installing the mirror on the driver's door, compounding the front rims to get brake dust discolouration out, and replacing the exhaust manifold gaskets.

It looks good, but...

now that it is looking a bit better the dead bugs in the headlight pods stand out.

How best do I get them out?

To do it properly you have to drop and split the light unit. However if you're careful you can pop the light unit (reflector and lens) into the pod and then get a Hoover extension in there. Be careful not to scratch things and make it worse though. You'll have fun getting the reflector back in its springs too - but it can be done like that in situ.

Tye string or wire or rod to reflector unit to pull back into place to engage clips. Make a note of number of turns on light adjustment screws to get beam alignment back correctly to pass MOT. Do some excercises to ease back strain, swearing also helps!!!

Robert. Do you have a MOT in Canada? What do Canadians think about TVR Griff? Some pics would be welcome. Cheers Eddie.

We only have an MOT when ownership of the car changes, other than that we have a bi-annual 'clean air test' that is required to renew registration. By the way the bugs are still there, and probably will be for some time!

The Griffith only was sold in tiny numbers over here, seven left hand drive in Canada, and two (right hand drive from new!) in the states. At this point the early Griffiths are over 15 years old, so are eligible for import to Canada, but not to the US.

Here is the recent "Yorkville Exotic Car Show" in Toronto where some of us displayed our cars, to give you an idea of the audience here is a street shot:

And here are the Griffiths, the red 500 "UK" being mine:

Another shot showing mine in the foreground along with the two others that attended:

And, I have thrown in a shot of my Son Stirling's Tasmin, and my 350i FHC:

Eddie, here is one more Griffith shot a friend took when I was at Out of the Woodwork in the States:

Fantastic piccs Rod, good to know TVR is still going strong over the pond, and not a wind turbine in site smile

I think you missed the last shot - my Griffith is parked in front of the prototype of the new TVR wind turbine.

Robert. Just seen your latest July posts. Nice interesting pictures. Trust there no more bugs. What's the interesting biplane?

The bi-plane *I believe* was an old US Air Force Stearman Kaydet PT-17; it was at the Van Sant airport in Bucks County Pennsylvania. We stopped there a couple of times over the years during "Out of the Woodwork" (the TVR North America's annual event for those who aren't familiar to to the tvrccna.org site for details).

Still have the bugs in the headlights - may be there for a long time.
