So working my way through the list of ste done by the garage next up is the cooling system

Now I know Ian is averse to S£ykes Pikavant but I reckon for £40 ish quid it's pretty good value on ebay for a complete kit

Pump it up to 10 psi and the coolant appeared everywhere:

3 (1 very) loose hose clips

A split plastic reducer - have now fitted a brass 12-8mm reducer (not the "motorsport" version which seem to sell for £10+)

You can also leave it unpressurised and warm the engine to test for a head gasket leak

Which Ian? I don't mind SP kit at all. Now Draper, Clarke, Stanley... that's another matter wink

Sometimes it's easier to just get the kit you need rather than bu99ering about with trial and error. Now you've done the job I'll give you £20 for it biggrin

A rad cap, a tyre valve and a standard electric tyre pump?

You can get a tyre valve (including the rubber end etc) from anywhere that fits tyres for a quid. Then pump it up to 15psi.

Mind you - even cheaper is run it up to temperature, then stop the engine....
