Just been doing my usual browsing of car adverts on PH and it amazes me the crap dealers seem to want write to fill the advert with.

Here is one for an Astra http://pistonheads.com/sales/3837846.htm

Air filter * (this must be a special car haha)
Driver/passenger seat recline/slide adjust * (would be strange not to have on a mass produced car)
Folding key * (wow how exciting)
Freewheeling door locks (what are these?)
Handbrake on warning light * (oh really...how special)
Low fuel warning light * (i just usually guess how much fuel is left..love these inventions)

What stupid things to list!

Who can find the most useless bit of info given in an advert.

"Used to be owned by......."

Like that really makes any difference.

I find it strange when people still list things like rear head rests, central locking are these things not standard on most cars now

I'm always amazed at what they don't include. ANY family car or hatch should have a photo of the back seats to see how many seat belts and how much room there is. So many fails on that one point alone. Instead you get stupid pointless photos of nothing in particular.

This always used to bug me too, but then last year I sold my OH's old car on Autotrader boxedin and when it looks up the car details it adds all of that useless information. I assume most people are just too lazy to change it!

that add is priceless. 'carpeted seat backs' and 'carpeted luggage compartment' been a while since cars came with out carpet.

All that jazz

really depends on who owned it though doesnt it?

just look at the corvette that was discovered in a barn recently that used to belong to an apollo astronaut - needed lots of resto work yet still sold for more than most fully restored cars.......

It lists the fact that it has ABS (A legal requirement) but says nothing about the condition of the car or service history... Very odd...

A dent on the door, not by me but the previous owner.

For starters they're probably lying and secondly why does it matter? The dent is still there no matter who did it.

- * door locks just spin, needs new barrels easy fix
- * handbrake jammed on, needs new pads easy fix
- * fuel light on, I put in £5 at a time and charge everyone petrol money
