What colour is my Supersprint?

Evening all - as the title says really, I bought a red supersprint 1700 recently and I'd like to know which "red" it is, so I can get an aerosol and carry out some localised repairs.

So, does anyone know what paint Caterham used 20+ years ago? Ford Carnival Red is probably a safe bet (and frankly probably close enough to paint the spare wheel mounting frame!) but I thought I'd put it "out there"....

Mine's the same and the best match was the Halfords Toyota red, be careful through there is 2 shades in the toyota red and one was closer than the other.

I have a 1994 HPC in red and it is known as Post Office Red - edit to add you can see it in my profile piccy. Whether that helps or not I can't say Im afraid. You could try contacting TSK in Kent who paint Caterhams (and have been for donkeys years). I had a new bonnet painted a few years back and the bodyshop simply matched the colour.

One and the same sir! Have our paths crossed before then??! I recently returned to the world of Swedish boost with a 9-5 Aero estate and I'd forgotten how much I liked them.

Love your HPC - pretty immaculate by the look of the pics, I've got a bit of a way to go before the Supersprint looks like that. Paintwork has taken a small trip down the priority list now that I've realised the wing/headlamp supports are trying to crumble, so that's the first project.

I used to own a black c900 T16S and frequented Saabcentral before those damned Septics seemed to take over and then onto UKsaabs, both under the name Dave B. I recalled a Paco on those forums in the good old days of the early 'noughties'. I sold the car ( to Fubes) and bought my Seven.

Great to hear you now have a Seven. Thanks for the compliments on my car, I love it but you can't beat the sound of a X Flow on carbs!

Funnily enough I bought a 9-5 estate a few years ago though sold it to buy a smaller car for the wife. Lovely car, if not quite like the 'proper' Saabs.

Have fun with the Seven. Are you a club member and have access to Blatchat? You will get lots of help and cheap spares if you do.

Hi Dave, Yes I remember you on Saabcentral, black t16's eh? Takes me back!!! Will be joining the seven club, it's a slightly complicated story how I've acquired this car (hence the Spain question) but it looks like the club will be very useful, there's a gathering at Poole quay next week which is local so I will try and get down there and probably find out I've bought a dog of a seven!
I know it isn't perfect but I must say I've been well impressed so far.

Ha, yeah they were fun times with the Saab, really miss the old girl and would happily have another. Well it's a pleasure to cross paths again and I wish you well with your Seven and Spanish adventures, it's a shame we don't live nearer otherwise it would've been great to hook up.

Sevens are very similar to the old Saabs in that they are ever surprising (in a good way), easy to work on from a DIY perspective and cheap to maintain.

Getting along to local meets is one of the best ways to learn about your Seven, as I say there is a wealth of knowledge in the club, in my experience so far if you have a problem with the car, someone somewhere has already had the same and worked out the best solution!

Late reply..but I believe if you give Caterham a call/ e.mail with your chassis number handy they keep a record if it's the original colour you are after....worth a try anyway.
