Hi Dave, most go for Toyo Proxes T1-R, I can recommend Blackcircles.com and have them delivered to a local garage for fitting. Fronts 79.16 and Rears 118.39 fitted. It is the rears that are worn ,they Bridgestone potenza so2 225.50.16
fronts Toyo proxes 205.55 15.
cheers Dave
I just changed my rears from 225.50.16 to 245.45.16 ,I think wider looks better and gives a bit more grip for those lead foot moments
.But they do cost a little more at 145.86.jedmate said:
Thanks Pearly for your info on tyres.By the way have you any thoughts on
bridgestone re02 potenza adrenalin
regards dave
Hi Dave, I was put off Bridgestone's after buying second hand wheels with them on, the tyres had gone rock hard and started to split between treads, I tried them round the block and they scared the crap out of me bridgestone re02 potenza adrenalin
regards dave
. These were SO2's and I didn't know there age so I changed to Toyo's which are also on my spare set. Others have said SO2's go off after a while.
The right ups look good on the potenza's but they weren't for this country and our weather! (Australia I believe) I couldn't find much on powerful rear wheel drive cars either, mostly front drive. The tread is interesting, but I do prefer the V pattern of Toyo's which gets the water away from the centre, especially in a car as light as a Chim. They do aquaplane very easily, just read Ace-T post on I Killed My Car on the June 6th.
I see Blackcircles have got the Bridgestones at about 130 each fitted.
But with Toyo's on the front, I would put Toyo's on back as well, it's some peoples opinion that they are not good to mix and add an extra couple of PSI to stiffen them up a tad, which I'm going to try on mine.
There are several post's on tyres and what others have tried and a lot of good advice and experience. Hope this helpful and good luck.
PS: If you get the Bridgestone's, do post your opinion on them as I dare say others will be interested.

Have you considered KUMHO ECSTA ,there becoming very popular ,remmeber the Toyos were budget tyres before they got popular .

Yeah, just got mine off Camskill - delivered today.
Whats the take on putting 245s on the rear Estorils - did a search here, and people were saying that width was right on the margin of what you could "get away with", which didn't fill me with confidence...?

245`s were not a problem on my car .Whats the take on putting 245s on the rear Estorils - did a search here, and people were saying that width was right on the margin of what you could "get away with", which didn't fill me with confidence...?

After some investigation i found the outrigger which goes up on an angle at the back of the tyre is different both sides ,this is common because they did not measure the outriggers properly in the factory.
Jack the car up ,put the rear end on axle stands then let the suspension sit at its lowest position (with tyres fitted) then measure from the edge of the tyre to the outrigger, mine are 1 1/2"out one side .
The inside of the tyre can catch at the back.
The other problem is catching the arch ,I removed the springs which allowed me to push the wheel up and down, one side clears the inner arch the other catches .The only way is to remove matarial or lift the suspension rear ride height up to 165 170 ish from the jacking plate to the ground .
I have 255`s fitted they are fine one side and catch the inner arch and outriiger on the other side so its back to 245`s.
