Hi All
I've almost counted my blessings too many times as I've not always been as good at covering my Chimaera as I could be, but it's always been pretty water tight.
Anyway, It's been out in the rain for the last couple of weeks or 'British Summertime' and it's now filled the Drivers footwell with water.
I've had a good root around and I can't see anywhere obvious that the leak is coming from, but I can see in the footwell that it seems to be dripping down inside of the right hand side carpet (as per red ring) ;

Does anyone have any idea on where it might be coming from ? The door seals all seem to be ok and there's no obvious signs of water ingress anywhere else ? I'm stumped

Any help would be gratefully appreciated

Hi Graeme, you have probably covered this one but have you a hole or a slot in you door frame rubber near the carpet to let the water leak out instead of in , cant tell by the piccy. As the water has no where else to go once it reaches that point. smile

Mine leaks there too. I've not managed to fix it as it's garaged now and not so bad if driving it, but my guess is it's either getting in higher up and running down the gap between the seal and the body, or, capillary action drawing it over from below.

That's what I though initially, but there's no signs of water leakage around that area so I'm thinking that's not it (this time anyway)

Graeme, i'm sure you already have; but have you checked that the seal on the tagra is tight. I noticed water that had been dripping in a similar place to yours a couple of days ago. It had been dripping from where the front of the tagra pushed up against the windscreen and part of the seal had bent back on itself slightly.

I'm not sure if that makes any sense at all but hopefully it helps.

Actually, no I haven't
I'll have a look at that later. I guess the water could run down the inside of the pillar and down onto the inside of the bodywork. I'll check it out
cheers

I had similar last year, and found that the push-on door seal rubber had come away from the body near the dashboard and water was getting in there. Pushing it back on properly fixed it for me.

Got the same on both sides. I changed the door seals with little improvement.
I think the water must be getting under the seal, probably at the top where it's horizontal where all the water flows over it from the wing / door.

Next I'm either going to run a bead of silicone sealant between the body and seal to stop water getting under or pull off the seal and put sealant in the seal grip and 'stick' it back on.

I've had a play with pushing seals back into place and I've aligned the targa panel, so with tonight's forecast storm it's certainly going to show if it's worked or not

We seemed to have quite a lot of rain last night and all seems to be dry today, so I'm hoping that pushing in seals and realigning targa has worked ok !?!?!
Thanks guys gh
