Hi all!

After doing my best impression of a steam train down the A55 the other week, I have decided my radiator is leaking. I had it re-cored about 5 years ago but I think it needs doing again - I have lifted it out from the car and if I fill it up it leaks slightly from one side, confirming my suspicions. I had it done at my local (now not so local) TVR specialist last time - but since I have already taken it out I just need somewhere that will re-core it for me. Is there anywhere anyone can recommend? I am thinking of sending it off to somewhere like County Radiators - how much are courier costs for this sort of thing? Can I just pitch up at the post office? wink

Any advice most welcome - need to get back on the road for when summer decides to make a re-apearence!

Even just a few years ago I would have always opted for a re-core over a new rad.

But these days the cost of materials seems to have closed the gap.

Take a photo of your rad and send it to these people, tell them what it's from and ask for a quote.

I think you might be surprised, I was.

When I spoke to them at a recent car show the price quoted for a new ally rad left me thinking when I have issues I wont bother with a re-core.

They are geared up to offer a very cost effective fast postal service & the quality of their work looked excellent.

Changed mine as all the cooling fins had fallen out due to age, used a radiator from an early Rangy 3.5 type, just blanked off the two small pipes on the right hand side, all the fixings are the same as a TVR one.
No problems since fitting on holiday in the South of France I sat for 2 hours in traffic no probs, the only question is if you mind having the two pipes, you could always ask a local rad company to remove and blank them off.. I believe I paid around £80 for the radiator from a Northern LR parts company.
