The reason I ask is that I stuck an old dust cap on to current car and the damn thing was so reluctant to let go I had to file it off.

They seem to be a universal thread, albeit very easy to cross thread with platic caps.

Also aluminium valve caps can corrode inside making them seize (had to file four off my winter wheels once - the only time I've had aluminium valve caps last a month without being stolen).
