Now I know most pistonheaders go for Luis Vuitton or Porsche Design luggage. However if, like me, you're too tight for the big brands then here's a quick heads up. 2 Matalan Globaltrek Medium cases go lovely in a 981 and at £18.00 each you can afford to just throw them away when a wheel comes off outside the Cafe de Paris.

Nice!

Just out of curiosity, where is the spare wheel in a 981? Does it have one, or does it just have a emergency foam can? Surely it doesn't have run flats does it?

There's a fix it kit with a pump and a can of foam in the 2 little "pods" you can see at either side of the front boot.

With a small window and a feed from the aircon you should by rights be able to transport your progeny in this space. However, sans-aircon it does get a bit hot in there with the heat soak from the radiators so transporting large quantities of chocolate or other perishable goods over long distances is not recommended.

Serious question, but what about the rear, being over the exhausts?

The front "boot" on the GT3 gets very warm due to the 3rd radiator, making it useless for carrying anything that may melt, including 'er indoors make up.

was reading the manual last night ..

one pod has the tool kit, the other has the first aid kit.

the pump and foam is under the plastic panel behind the warning triangle

I think when Phooey had his Spyder he used to put all his make up in a cool box to stop it melting.

Not in mine!
I thought I'd better have a closer look and be prepared, 'cos I don't want to break a nail if the worst happens. As far as I can see all I've got is a tool kit in one 'pod' and a "VW tyre mobility systems sealant" in the other.
(No air pump this time it turns out - that's gonna be a bh with the airbed at Le Mans!)

Flipant answer - the little bit of French cheese we bought went into the back boot but we had to bin it by Rotterdam!
(I've always preferred Chedder.)

Should we start a new thread "Which boot is best for transporting cheese"?
