Help! Le Mans 36 hours and I think I have a fuel leak!,
Discussion
Just popped around the garage to fill up with petrol. Got home and there is a strong smell of fuel. Moved the car and there was a patch of what smelt like fuel on the floor.
I've had the car on the ramps and had a look but can not see any drops. The smell is coming from the top of the engine but I cannot see any leaks.
Sorry meant to say leaving for Le Mans in 36 hours!!!

"I've just seen ANOTHER TVR with an engine fire, most probably due to a failed petrol hose. My own hoses have failed twice in the space of 5 years due to heat and vibration. You REALLY do not want high pressure petrol squirting around the engine bay.
PLEASE:
1) Locate the hoses in question. They are on the driver's side (UK car) at the back of the engine bay. The two hoses leave the fuel rail and disappear between the engine and the bulkhead. The are in the same area as the throttle cable.
2) Check for any cracking, brittleness or loose connections.
3) Replace if necessary.
4) Do NOT fit braided hoses as these make the issue more difficult to spot.
5) When replacing the hoses, increase the length to move the hoses away from the coolant pipes which they wrap around.
6) Only use the correct high pressure fuel hose.
7) Replacing the hoses yourself can be a pain due to access at the far end. If in doubt, get a specialist/dealer to do it for you."

The engine bay fuel hoses are easy enough if you 1st remove the inlet plenum
as far as tracking down a leak in the engine valley injector rail area talcum powder is your friend
just remember fuel leaks don't cure themselves or go away on their own
Codan, Pirelli,Goodyear fuel hose is quality stuff try here http://www.postalparts.co.uk/codan-fuel-hose-10-ba... just don't use Jubilee clips but this style
You have plenty of time to do this anyway as most decent motor factors carry branded fuel hose and clips

Found it!!!
Following on from what has been said here it's the bottom fuel hose at the back of the engine. It has been held by a jubilee clip not the clips shown above.
The hose looks ok but I think I'll get it changed anyway. Now I just need a garage to do it tomorrow.
Hope I can get it in.
