Battery Replacement... argh!

After 6 years, the old battery was probably long overdue for replacement but I had no idea it's such a bugger to get at, not helped by rust clamp and bracket bolts as well as just being a bugger to get at. 
It's taken over an hour to get the old one out and i've given up putting the new one back in for tonight
Still, at least it's one less thing to worry about at the Le Mans Classic

I had an issue with the battery on my car. It was only 2 years old, but would not accept a full charge. I bought it from my local factors...using advice on here. It was a Varta Type 072. The guys at the shop were great, got straight on to Varta, and I had a (new) replacement the next day.
Even though all the advice states a 072 battery...with good cold crank amps, it was still a bu**er to fit. With the 'lugs' on the battery case, it was just a shade too long, which resulted in me trimming the plastic to fit the housing, and then using a 10mm cable tie to hold it down.
So, my advice is: take some measurements first and buy something identical, because not all 072 batteries are the same.

Know how you feel, recently done the same and it's a bit of a faff. I tied the various leads out of the way to help ease the new one in and labelled them just to make sure I didn't reconnect incorrectly... Good advice from Nick regarding the right type(thanks again for assisting in choosing the right one for mine).

Wish I was going to the Classic's again fantastic, last time we stayed at Vannes, drive in and out was good and a bit more refined in the evenings.
