1970/80's boxy trucks! smokin

I don't know what it is, but they just seem to have a pure simple elegance about them, which I think looks great. Ok it's a truck, I know. Doesn't mean I can't like them, but am I alone in this?

I like them too. I once had a '79 K5 Blazer with the 350ci V8. 13mpg, a 35 gallon tank and huge fun.

I like them. Always said if I lived in the states I would own a truck similar to that.

They look like the sort of car that you'd go to church in when marrying your own sister (you know, sort of a bit err deep south of the USofA)

ETA: Or as it's you 300 - The sort of thing you would recommend to somebody looking for a small economical family runabout in a 'What car' thread

Can't say I've ever thought about it, any more than I think about what my washing machine looks like. smile

I agree, but most things look cool when lifted a foot with 50" tyres. Any pictures of standard ones?

They look pretty cool, yeah, but after listening to some Seasick Steve the other day, I googled "51 Chevy Pickup" to see what his truck looked like:

Groovy.
Love the step-side. Anything else - meh

I grew up with Cortina bakkies and Nissan 1400 pickups and the Toyota Hi Lux, so those are cool pickup trucks to me. Well, except for the Toyota biggrin .The US ones always just looked massive to me. That detail aside, though, I can say its not just you. I also find '80s boxy pickup trucks cool, just not the same ones.

Never been a massive fan of the American stuff as a rule, but after watching Back to the Future again a few nights ago I have a real urge to own an immaculate old Toyota Hi-Lux. It just looks awesome!

You aren't the only one 300. I'd have any one of those pictured. My wife is from Colorado and her dad has a late 90's F150 with the 5.4 V8 - I love it and it's on my list of vehicles to own when we move over there.

Not bad but if you're going to do it, do it right...

...then do the suspension lift and 50" tyres etc
