Cutting out

Does anyone have a problem with their Tuscan just cutting out? You can be driving along and all of a sudden the car misses completely for a split second and is then okay again. Also, especially in the rain the car will start to miss and will not idle as if one of the cylinders is not firing or fuel starvation. I am going to TVR next week, but wondered if anybody had a similar problem.

Yes, I sometimes have the same problem - most noticeable when driving at medium revs at constant throttle. Of course it never happens when the car is with the dealer ....

We have tried : new plugs and HT leads, re-sealing the cam cover (apparently water runs off the windscreen and is channelled onto the top of the engine where it can collect around the plugs), and replacing the crank sensor. Things seem to have improved, but the problem still occurs intermittently.

I have had the split second cut out once, just as i was overtaking ! Sometimes the engine stutters like its going to give out but is then ok again - and it was dry on both occasions.

Yes... I get this on my 'S' too..

Seems to be when one of the relay's kicks in. Not sure if its when the radiator fans come on. I notice it, but always forget to look and see whats happening when it occurs.

Its like the whole electrics system stalls for a second whilst the fans (or whatever it is - i'm sure a relay clicks when it happens) kick in...

Took the car back to TVR yesterday (12th June 2002). Plug leads where a bit doggy and filter full with water. Worst of all no. one cylinder had given up the ghost just about, so engine out time for the guys at TVR. Must say though Paul at TVR was a pretty good guy and very helpful even though he seemed to be up to his eyes after coming back from a weeks factory close down. I'll keep you posted

Got the car back after 10 days as promised. Appeared to be a burnt out value. TVR changed the head and cam, fitted new followers and crankshaft bearings. Car runs like a dream. F.O.C
