I'd like to fit one of these to my car, and judging from past threads, fitting the sender unit into or near the oil filter housing seems to be the way to go.

My question (for those that have done this) is how did you fit the sender? Did you fit a replacement remote filter bracket that has provision for a sender? (Think Automotive have these www.thinkauto.com/index.htm)

Or did you modify the original filter housing? Or do something else?

If anyone knows the thread sizes of the filer/oil lines, that would be a real help.

Thanks!

Have a look here , you can just see where the sender has been fitted.

Austec done mine and Joolz has done one or two so they may be able to provide a bit more info.

Fitting the gauge and wiring is quite simple but the sender is about a 2 hour job give or take as they have to remove the oil filter housing, i believe, in order to drill the hole for the sender.

Thanks for the info, I've seen those threads.

What I'm interested in is the thread sizes for the hoses that go in and out of the remote filter housing. You can buy remote filter housings for about £25 with a hole already tapped for a temp gauge.

Which would be cheaper than taking the old one off and modifying it.

So does anyone know?
