£506 + Vat. This includes 9.3l oil, oil filter, air filter and microfilters. Must admit I thought it was on the pricy side.

Is it?

That sounds bonkers. My E46 M3, at my local main dealer last year - cost @£116 for an oil change, no microfilter - but presume they are not £400!

I was quoted:

An oil service will cost £302.03 inc vat

The cost of the oil content of that is £164.15

Buy your own oil from Opie and then go searching around all of the local dealers for a labour only quote!

That's bang on what the oil price was she quoted. I take it all that is extra on mine is the two other filters?

It does seem pricy. they usually are not too bad.

Just tried quote elsewhere. No wonder it's dear. Microfilter - £113.. Air filter - £117.

Not far out then.

My last service a few months back was £250+vat for the oil service and £85+vat for the microfilters ie £335+vat and I moaned about that.

Sounds like they are trying to charge you £170+vat for two new air filters!

Just had breakdown from another dealer.

Standard Scope £24.72
Oil Service £306
Air Filter £117
Microfilters £113

So £560.72. I assume that is inclusive price as they never said

It's a little cheaper then.

That is redonkulous. confused

Check around to see if your local dealers do the "4-plus" thing as this can bring the price down. Also, as stated, buying your own oil and bits usually brings it down further. Plus, tell them you'll dispose of the old oil which will save you a further £20 odd.

So what happens if you bring your own filters too if the car is under warranty? Would it still stand?

The Bosch Pollen filter is £20.7 from ECP and in my view is as OEM as it gets. The two Mahle air filters are £28 each. Again OEM. Sounds like BMW is trying it on. Don't even get me started on the st service, which seems to be the norm in London dealers these days...

BMW dealers will only fit BMW parts. The one I worked for would happily use supplied oil if it was the correct spec. I'm setting up my own garage soon so will be charging much less than main dealers.

Opie charge £90 for 9l of Castrol Edge 10w60.

£297 for oil service and change brake fluid for 06 E60 M5.
Can't complain at that.
Booked in for Tuesday at local BMW dealer.
It is bit cheaper due to being over 4 yr old.

Those part prices seem outrageous.

Is the microfilter a pollen filter?

Jeeez....I sell them for £19.99 online, no wonder mine are selling like hotcakes if BMW are quoting silly prices for buying (and fitting)

It also takes 5 mins to change them, there are plenty of Youtube videos showing how to do so
