On the back of a few UK posts about getting crappy courtesy cars, I thouoght I would share my terrible experience. What we have to put up with these days eh?

So off I plod to my OPC (this is Dubai, not UK) to drop off my beloved '7 GT3 for warranty extension and a few other small bits and pieces (new front splitter, replace sticky buttons on PCM, couple of other bits).

I booked in advanced and asked for a courtesy car, they usually give me a 09 Cayenne S which is nice enouogh.

On this occassion they say that there are no cayennes avail, so they have to give me whatever they've got. Now the same group own VW etc... here in Dubai so I was expecting a Golf or similar runaround to keep me going.

I fill in the paperwork and go outside to get handover of my pile of crap, I can already invisage my PH post when I get back to the office, "how dare they give me a FWD hatchback, do they not know who I am????" etc.

So we walk outside, and I spot a few mundanes, this is not going to go well.

We walk towards the mundanes. Boooooo.

At the back of the crapbox courtesy cars (with added advertising for the dealer plastered all over the side of most of them, how am I going to show my face around driving one of those?????) I see a gleaming white stunna. Looks nice I thought, someone must be waiting to pick up their pride and joy, nice. Lucky them.

He walks over and blips the fob, opens the door, turns it on, and offers me a seat.

I'm like: "no mate, I'm not here for a test drive, you should have a courtesy car for me? No speako englisho? Hello?"

It was my courtesy car, for the long weekend. Nice. Me = happy.[

Best I've had was a PDK Boxster S but I have also had a C180 Saloon (Wilmslow OPC)

I contacted my local Indie to book the annual service. I was asked if I'd like a loan car, answer was yes, offered Boxster, OK, but I need cover note from my insurer to drive their car, contacted insurer, wouldn't give me free cover note, walk back from indie!!

Solihull have always put me in a Boxster/Cayman and once a Cayenne S.

Don't know if this will continue now they have nice shiny new premises to pay for?

Booked car in for a minor service and a few bits and bobs at OPC Bristol and was told they could hopefully sort out a Cayman as a loan car. In the end it was unavailable so they arranged a Panamera Diseasel instead. Must say it was quite a nice car to waft around in for a day! Better that than the BMW 1 Series that I've had in the past...

Getting new tyres on the Boxster and, to my surprise, Glasgow OPC gave me a white Panamera (3.6 V6) courtesy car for 24 hours.

Nice 7.2 4S S1MMA but no comparison to your GT3. I was in Dubai in December and spotted your car outside the supermarket at Burj Views opposite the Dubai Mall. In my opinion, the perfect spec. Hung about for a while to chat but you were away some time (sorry for the crap photo).

I've had a couple of brand new Boxster S to tool about with- these are more than adequate (a lot of fun to drive if you ask me). The one time the OPC messed up and had to come and pick up my car for work they hadn't quite finished, they left me a brand new 911 cab, likethe OP. On the one day where I knew i would not get to drive it! It sat on the drive all day, not turning a wheel...

Booked mine in at Hatfield andd got this beauty to run around in for 2 days....

Clever marketing as I really liked the car, particularly the PDK system, shame I can't afford the £90k to buy it !

Quite right. But I would take a perverse pleasure in pootling around in a bit of crap British Leyland nostalgia.

Porsche Leicester have always let me have a demonstrator as a courtesy car - I currently have a Panamera Diesel in the drive - surprisingly good car!
