I'm sat in a half empty residential street in willsden, London. The meter wants 2.40 for 1 hour but 6.00 for 2 hours. So park for 1 hour 1 minute and pay 3.60 for the extra minute. It's not as though it's a particularly congested road either.

Gits.

In Shrewsbury town centre, it's £1.50 for one hour of parking, or £3.10 for two.

I assume they're just trying to get more money out of people, as people usually can't get much done in an hour so would have to go for the two hour option.

Couple this with people rarely having the correct change (and the fact that the machines don't give change) and I expect many people put in £3.50 or even £4.00.

Parking machines not giving change is one of my major pet hates when it comes to money grabbing scum....

What's worse is the patronising "overpayment accepted" written on the machine. You mean I can pay more than the rate to park? Thanks!
