Speccing / Sourcing a Vantage Roadster

A friend is about to buy a brand new Vantage Roadster and has asked my advice on how he should spec it up.

Currently I have said:-

Roadster 2dr Sportshift
Tungsten Silver Metallic
Obsidian Black Leather / Contrast Stitching
Bluetooth Telephone Preparation
Front Parking Sensors
Heated Front Seats
Sat Nav
Wind Deflector

Anything that I've missed?

He doesn't want to spend too much on extras.

Current price he is being quoted for above is £103k, does anyone know the best place to source this from to get a decent discount?

Would he not be better getting a dealer stock car instead of speccing his own if he's going to choose Tungsten? If he was choosing something like Sunburst yellow then I could understand it, but he's chosen the most popular colour combo. Would get a better discount on one than a brand new factory order I imagine

I have exactly that spec plus a couple of other bits on my MY2008 Roadster.

How about ?

Premium Audio - 700 watt sound over the standard 160 watt is worth having.
(I had the standard stereo in my previous Vantage)

Ipod connection - might already be standard ?

Cruise control - might already be standard ?

Clear Rear lenses - might already be standard ?


Oh and get him to remove Fuse22

Would he not consider an 'S'? ASM2 and the new 7speed gearbox is in a different league to ASM1, not to mention sharper steering, handling, looks etc.

I am pretty sure there are significant discounts to be had, taking a look at some of the deals folk here have got, bargain hard

I'd go for an S too.

Blimey, here's a first i agree with George! That car has everything. the S gearbox is fantastic.
Don't get the speccing your own car to end up paying a premium for Silver / Black interior. Thats what all the dealers order for their stock, and are always at a discount to AM 'list'.

Well spotted George. However, its an ex demo, and my fear with them is that they are always driven hard from cold, and little attention to running in etc....

but then i could be over analysing!

One would hope the dealer had ensured the engine was at temperature before permitting demonstrations. I remember at Grange we sat in the car whilst it warmed up and I was told to take it easy until up to temp when I did an accompanied test drive.

I'd have a chat with the local dealer, Inform the dealer of the required specification and ask if there any cars "in build" near the requirement.

You may not get everything you need and it's likely to may end up with some options you wouldn't have spec'd originally but the selling price should be too attractive to turn down.

A couple of weeks ago I was offered an ex demo 2011 roadster in that exact spec, baring the gearbox(manual).
Car was registered in March 2011, with 2yrs Aston warranty remaining.
Price was under £60k.

Not at HWM. Test drives are always with a salesman. salesman starts the test drive, pulls in after 5-10 mins (most of it in traffic in Walton, so lots of time for it to warm up) and lets prospective customer drive car. Cars always looked after there.

Thay is a VERY common spec and there ought to be loads of prebuilt ones around.
My new S roadster is a higher spec built to order and didn't cost much more
I'd be looking for a used preface lift 4.7 as they will be cheaper

If he has £103k to spend this is his spec and more!

Correct - this is my experience with all Stratstone cars I have tried over the last 2 years too - Vantage, DB9, Virage and DBS.

All were properly warmed up.

I think it is the ex press cars rather than the ex demo cars to be more wary of.

Not my experience at two Stratstone dealers
