It looks nice but why did you not wait for the new cayman?

Its going to be a headache to sell it in a few years.

Welcome to PH!!

Stuff and nonsense. Read plenty of bad reviews of the Gen 2 Cayman have you?

He'll have got a good price on the recent purchase and if he sells privately chances are the new owner won't even know the difference. Even if there's a discount on sale for being the old model it won't be as big as the saving I hope he's already made on the recent sale price.

Sorry my post sounded a little rude, that was not my intention.

All I was saying is that when spending so much money on a brand new car is nice to have the newest model, but each to their own.

Look at the price difference between an 04 997 and 996

Hi BnB

Honestly? I sometimes wonder if I've made a big mistake ( a bit like knowing that you've found "the one" but having your head turned by some gorgeous young hooker but rather than just having your wicked way with her, dumping "the one" and shacking up with the hooker instead!).

I hadn't realised that I'd formed such a deep connection with the GTS. The CR gets far less use than the GTS because we can't put the kids in the back and every once in while I really miss it especially that gorgeous rear!

But the CR is a wondrous thing to drive, it's control weights are just so, it's not run in yet, so I don't know if ultimately I'll prefer it but it's my car in a way that the GTS never could be, it is wondrously, deliciously self-indulgent. I get up early every Sunday for a quick blatt and it's just so planted. It carves through bends like perfectly bladed skis on crisp, newly fallen snow and for an hour or so - all is forgiven!

Will I ultimately like it as much as the GTS? Don't know yet - have to wait until it's run in and I can really let loose but it's not exactly a hardship finding out!

It's easy to come across poorly when typing something on the web, so fine. FWIW for me, the issue was more the chap has just bought a new car, why make a comment like that in the first place? Assuming you are correct it's too late for him to do anything about it anyway and if you're not correct, it's more obviously a pointless comment.

The OP almost certainly got a great deal on his car - way better than he would get on a new Cayman the difference could be as much £10 or £15k when the new car comes out and we know pricing levels, so well worth keeping in your pocket for what is already widely acknowledged as one of the best handling cars money can buy!

It was more of a question then a comment, but your right I should not have asked.

I hope you enjoy the car, I recently got my first Porsche (911) and love it.

I still feel like this about my Spyder 2 years in - and I left a cooking Carrera 4 for it not a GTS!! It doesn't get used enough (I am too precious about it though and don't like dumping it in the office car park for the day) and I can't squeeze the kids in. I do love it though!

Very nice - I like the Targa, they are rare and I think the glass roof thing is pretty cool - also it's the most practical 997 as you get a rear opening hatch, so the space behind the seats is a bit easier to use! It's the way of the car nut to always want more, so no shame in wanting a Turbo. I thought about getting a turbo about 6 years ago - in many ways, I'm glad I didn't.
