Some bint wrote off my s4 last week, and i have been given a 4dr 1.2 corsa and told it may take around 3 months before im payed out, 3 months with this poxy 1.2 corsa? Without sounding like an ungrateful why should i be put out due to somebody eles's negligence? fair enough it it was my fault but its not, why can't they give me something decent and charge her insurance for it?

Get annie's dad on here or a similar insurance accident assistance person, get a replacement similar to your own car and charge them for everything.

You have a point but at the same time if everyone demanded a like for like replacement then insurance would be even worse than it is now. 3 months S4 rental isn't cheap!

Think of it as you doing yourself and the rest of us a favour as well as a few months of cheap motoring. Stick the petrol savings in a pot and buy yourself a nice present when you get your car back. Or treat it to a full detail.

Just an idea, I have been known to talk a load of rubbish.

I wouldn't accept a Corsa if any of my cars were written off. It would just be completely unsuitable for my use - however cheap the motoring may be.

I would accept a poverty spec car with the smallest engine of the similar size model as mine, but not smaller. Even so, putting up with it for 3 months or more might be outside my limits.

On the other hand the OP has paid a lot of money to own his S4 and presumably derives a lot of pleasure from it. Why should he suffer for something thats not his fault? If it was then yes, he'd have to lump it with a corsa etc but as its not and also it's not likely to be just a few days inconvenience is it?

OP - if you are claiming through the 3rd parties insurance you can request a like for like courtesy car.

If it's a no-fault claim then you have grounds to ask for a similar car. When my BMW was rear-ended, I was initially offered a 1-litre box but when I "complained" I ended up with a Saab 9-3.

Years back, I had minor shunt in my MG Maestro 2.0i - the insurances company's idea of a similar vehicle was a Maestro Clubman Diesel (Sherpa van engine)... Only had it for a week though, but truly vile

As said, you can ask for a similar car in size to yours.

You wont get an S4 or other powerful variant but a Audi diesel for 3months I guess you could live with.

The only time I had a problem with this is when its a 4x4 as you will really struggle to get a like for like vehicle then.

I had a 1.2 Corsa when I crashed - it really was a hateful POS. This accident was my fault so I accepted it as my punishment for being a bad driver, but if I had a non-fault claim I would definitely be asking for something more representative of my own car.
