Hmm what about a Destroyer...they are bigger than a Corvette!!!

Seriously, I'm in the same dilemma, we have just had a baby and it's a pain taking two cars to meets and things. I would love a cerbera, but my idea of the TVR thing is not having a roof on when it's not raining.

Decisions decisions!!!

Going through exactly the same dilema at the moment. My problem is I've got a Grif and an Omega. I'd ideally like to run just one car as the two are costing a fortune.

My choices are Cerbera or XKR. I'd be interested to know what you decide, my head says XKR and hopefully save some money on running costs but everything else says Cerbera?

You can pick up a good XKR for around 27k (cheaper available with higher mileage). I think they actually look very tasty especially in the right colour with the 20" wheels (he says trying to convince himself!).

Yep. Its the only car which can be obtained in a cabrio that has genuinely usable rear seats and luggage space whilst offering a reasonable modicum of performance.

I couldn't have one because of the image but this doesn't stop me appreciating it as a fine car. Worth considering.

On the other hand if you have a griff (which has sod all luggage space and NO rear seats) moving to a 996 C2 cabrio which has "emergency" or "small children" rear seats and *some* luggage space up front might work for you.

Quick enough and obtainable at prices very comparable with the 993 you mention...

I believe that Audi do the S4 as a Cab. Maybe not quite up there with the M3 in performance terms, but certainly wins on the image front.

Have to agree with Shnozz, Maseratti 3200/4200 would be the one for me.

I'm in the same situation, currently running a Chimaera for commuting/fun & an L200 for family outings.

I would dearly love another Cerbera, but could not justify the costs/off road time that I had with my last one.

Never been one to buy German, and the XKs are looking a little long in the tooth. Saying that, I've seen a few very tasty looking XKRs around so would be tempted at the right price.

But the Maserati to me has just about everything if you got a family to consider - maybe worth adding to your list?

Cheers,
Tommo

My previous car was a Jag XK8 Convertable. Was quite tight at the back but still managed to get one or two adults in when I had to, so children shouldn't be a problem. I loved every minute of it. Was fabulous to drive. I would highly reccomend it. I can only imagine the XKR to be even better! Not cheap to run but, so far, no more expensive than my Tamora.

To be perfectly honest, and I'll klick myself for saying this: M3 or M5.

Reliabile, good fun, quick, lots of space, good resale value.

Ferrari Mondial,
Affordable, character, classy, fast as hell, 4 good seats and still a convertible.

Saw one belting around Oulton Park last Wednesday at the FOC track day - they do shift and look great.

UK spec Scoobs are a bit slow unless modified (PPP or whatever) or unless you go for a STI version, but this hasn't been avalable as a 5 door since around 1999/2000... But agreed, they do handle quite nicely in the wet.

I've had one for about 3 years and don't intend to part with it. (Well, we have just bought a Griff, so we do need something sensible for moving big things around)

The funny thing is that the Griff is cheaper to insure...

From what i read Andy is it true to say it was more a case of dont buy a maserati outside the dealer network, rather than dont buy a maserati

Or have i got that wrong
