Hi all, in my attempt to stop the car being so twitchy and tramlining i was wondering if slightly narrower tyres on the front would help?
225/50/15 as standard i was wondering if 205/55/15 might improve matters?
Will a 205 fit safely onto the standard OZ rim ( 15/7.5J? ) and does anyone have experience with experimenting with different tyre sizes?
The wedge is not an especially heavy car although it does of course have a great lump of an engine over the front.
Thoughts please...............

I thought the OZ's were 8 x 15, they are on my 400SE ???
Looking at an Alloy wheel website they recommend 205 width tyres only for rims 5.5 - 7 x 15 so if yours are 8's like mine I think the tyre won;t be wide enough. I'm not a professional onthis though so probably better speaking to Kwik Fit or similar

Asked this question when having my tyres removed at small specialist tyre shop, they are 8" and I think he told me that the 225 toyos in a 50 were the narrowist to fit, another make may do something but for time being I'm stuck with what I've got,how about changing the outer dish for a narrower one, could be pricey though, john.
By the way I've gone as far as I'm gonna go with mine now Jim,so tyres go back on on Saturday, can't upload any photos though and im done with trying, kin puters

Hi Adam,I followed jims link to Pertsch & Partners and have now finished my refurb, well finished as much as I can be bothered with for this time anyway,I used m7 x 24mm thread stainless 12 point bolts with a 14.93mm flange, then zinc plated m7 nuts x 12 point with same size flange or 15mm by a ruler( difference of a nats pube)
Also used their thread lock, sealant and wheel cleaner, and looking good, john.

Do you have the info you need Adam? If not i'll have a look over the weekend and get back to you.Trying to get it sorted now
Thanks

I have recently had a full 4 wheel aligment check and adjustment regards the castor angle. Maybe i should stick with 225s up front but change my tyres as i think whilst plenty of tread left they are perhaps getting on a bit. They are Pirelli P Zero's which i recall some have said are very bad for tramlining anyway.
