All very strange -

Porsche "goodwill" have agreed to refund air-con problems and even the 3 x roller bearings. (Parts & Labour).

....but refused claim for sunroof (£1,200).

The air-con I expected to be covered/settled.

The roller bearings I was happy to pay view fact that it is a high performance car that has completed 22,000 "spirited" miles in the last 12 months.

The sunroof I had (wrongfully) assumed would def be covered. A sunroof on a £100,000 car should not fail in two years - especially when you consider we live in England so roof only used twice per season!!

I have refused to contribute to the roof and now case continues.... am I being unreasonable?

What was wrong with your sunroof? I've recently had the cassette mechanism replaced due to a bad rattle (details in profile). This was done FOC, but I don't know if this was because I took out the extended warranty back in april.

No mate. Fight it.

Daz got it sorted (I believe) - Daz?

Sure he told me as much @ Silverstone last week.

I also have the extended warranty - they say that roof not covered under same.

(The roof doesn't always close)

I would dispute that. Whatever their fine print, prior to taking out the extended 2yr warranty as opposed to the extra 1yr warranty, the person at the OPC told me that that with the 2yr warranty I would receive exactly the same level of coverage as that given in the first two years of ownership.

have you been in contact with porsche GB?

if it is the tonbridge operation, Andy often plays for a bit before he comes good

mention to them that this will certainly have a bearing on ordering a 997TT.

Shortly after you renewed porsche changed plan - you can only get year policy now & then renew again next year. Yours was at the end of the "old style" renewal.

I missed the boat (Not good for a shipping chap...!)

buster I agree with you, after only two years & minimal use it shouldn't fail & does point to a manufacturing defect rather than wear & tear ! They should cough up !!!

The amusing fact is that it never failed in my care at all - the first time it failed was during the warranty extension inspection!!!

I am SO lucky

To be honest Buster, I don't think you were using the sunroof ENOUGH!!! That is why the silly thing seized solid

Check on p345 of the owner's manual: 'Ze Sonnenroofen must be operated vonce a week or more, even in inklement weather, or it vill sulk and not play ze ball, ja.'

Just received mail:

With regard to the sunroof I have spoken to Porsche customer services and have chatted with them I have persuaded them to pay for the sunroof parts but not the labour

now going to give them a call....

Clearly if you agree to this you are only willing to pay your OPC the token warranty labour rate and not the one they stick the customers with?

They probably found your sunroof was jammed full of Swissol. I saw Nick trowelling it on at PistonFest

They have also agreed to give 2 year warranty on the new roof / parts.

2 hrs labour + vat.

Actually think that is pretty reasonable....

They also said that no TT S cabs available...GT2 loan car was also no.

*** Edit to add: Porsche would have paid for entire parts & labour IF I had purchased car from them. Next time I should be more patient and order from OPC!

That is fair enough

Well done on some kind of result.

It still shouldn't break, but under the weight of all that Swissol, and with so little use... you really have to take part of the blame.

To correct Domster's obvious visual impairment (after a heavy night at PF no doubt), I think you will find that Buster was doing the trowelling on using MY wax. I was too busy waxing cars for MOD500, Rods and Burriana 500....

Buster, my bill is in the post. Payment terms are NOW.
