Brake caliper painting....Portsmouth area?
Discussion
Hi all,
Should really do this myself but finding the time and the moment isnt easy.
Any experince of someone who can do a good job of this? ideally where i can drop the car off for a couple of days, cant find anyone local who offers this service. i guess ideally someone who would take the calipers off and respray/powercoat but happy with someone who do a good job of painting them whilst in situ would also work. Hate having pink calipers!
Thanks all.

Let us know how you get on. I've been wanting to get this done to, as the red is flaking off. I'd like to go green next if they do a good job and don't charge the earth...george123 said:
Will do mate, hoping to book in early July.
Finally got around to having this done, many thanks to Mark for the recommendation - great service from Tony who did a nice job on the calipers, also cleaned up a few bits while he was under the car including removing about 10 yrs of dried mud that was sitting in my spring pans! Would definitely recommend them. Not as perfect as a powder coat but miles better than before especially with the new decals i got of ebay.Hi all
The calipers were removed from their mounts but not disconnected from the hydraulics.
They are then wire brushed rubbed back and keyed with wet'dry. Solvent cleaned and hand painted.
Left to dry between coats then re-assembled.
Powder coating is only possible if the calipers are stripped completely as the process would burn out any seals left in the caliper. This can be done but the extra cost would be IMO difficult to justify.

ETA We would normally also paint the visible part of the disc bell but if I remember correctly in this case they already had a good finish so were left as is.

Thank Steve. Tony mentioned there was some early stages of rust on the sills that he could sort out also, will be in touch again to get this done. CheersThe calipers were removed from their mounts but not disconnected from the hydraulics.
