Has anyone got numbers for cheap Lotus Elise insurance. At the moment I'm getting quotes 50% more than the T350 for the Lotus except from Elephant which I don't really want to go with.

I've tried; Peart,Flux, Sunninghill,Capital

Cheers

They're probably factoring in doing mach 6 round the bends!

Try Esteem, Adrian Flux, Footman James and Tesco - they seem to be popular choices - I'm with FJ but have limited miles.

Tesco is popular I think. Do you want track day cover as well though?

Just search in this forum for insurance, its been done a million times

...also Admiral, Bell Direct, Barclaycard, Autotorque.

Remember with Direct Line and Tesco you will need to factor in the cost of an approved tracker device.

I heard that and insisted it was true when arguing with the telpehone operator - he checked with the underwriter, and apparently they said tracker still needed.

So I stuck with Elephant

Esteem gives you very cheap track day coverage though if you are >30 and have been on a recognised driver training course.

Insurance is a complete nonsense on these cars.

I tried practically all of the above when I renewed last month and all the "approved ones" were only any good if you were a hundred, you only drive with your gran, have full NCB, live in fort knox and have a postcode at Buck House.

Adrian Flux gave the best deal in the end, with Elephant not far off it. The 10% owners club discount came in nice and handy! Are you considering joining SELOC fish? If so Flux will reduce your premuim by this amount.

Cheers, Tim

Insurance doesn't have much to do with the value of the car, its more to do with cost to repair if you prang it, and how many bus shelters they think you'll take with you.

Cost of repair for an Elise can be heavy if you damage the chassis, hence the slightly grim insurance.
