Tube shaped ectomorph
Discussion
Okay here's a bodybuilding question for you. I am a tube shaped ectomorph (unlike some poeple on here) and my most irritating feature is my narrow hips and narrow stomach/rib cage. I am literally a tube shape until it gets to my chest/lats (my lats are high up so that doesn't help) where I broaden out a bit.
I don't think this can be solved from bodybuilding as it is an inherent problem with my build. My rib cage is just narrow, this can be comfirmed by breathing in which makes me look a lot bigger. I don't want to bulk up I just want to have a more V shape to me instead of the tube that is broader at the very top look.
There is no solution to this except surgery so I'm not expecting a solution just needed to vent really

Yes I am aware of pullovers, I used to do them, not so much now! ALthough I hit all of the other compounds hard. I was wondering if dips actually make the rib cage smaller because I get hurting in my rib cage and collar bone when I do them and by their very nature they are squeezing your chest inwards.
Not sure if you were officially diagnosed or if this is your own diagnosis, but either way, the number 1 route to a V-shape is Dips and Pull-ups, with extra weight strapped between your legs to keep the reps below 8.
You'll soon find out how ectomorphic you really are... (frame is one thing, slow-twitch to fast-switch muscle ratio is another entirely)

It's OK no need for that, he has a set of grapefruits the size of Cantaloupes.mattikake said:

I do this exercises several times a week on top of my lifting, I am still a tube shape until my lats/chest, my rib cage just doesn't have the normal shape. I can only do pullups with 5 extra kilos normally for 3 reps but my best is 5 reps which I don't always manage. I can just about do 10 dips with 10 extra kilos. I am an extreme ectomorph, as I said in my other thread I am 5'11 and 14 stone BUT!!! And this is a big but, most of my weight is in my long legs (more specifically my thighs) which makes it difficult. If you saw me you would swear blind I was 12 stone until you saw how big my thighs where, it's like someone has taken the thighs off an endomorph and stuck them to the upper body of an ectomorph; ridiculous quite frankly.
