Price of a Roadsport SV
Discussion
Have looked a buying a new Roadsport SV with the following options in Switzerland. Prices here seem really high. Works out at around £50'000. Anyone know how much this would be (roughly) if bought in the UK? I tried the Caterham UK website but despite saying I could download a price list it wouldn't let me.
175bhp Duratec engine
Limited Slip Differential
SV Wide body chassis
6-speed Performance Gearbox
Wide-track Suspension
Anthracite 8-spoke Alloy wheels
4 point Harnesses
Leather Seats
Uprated Brakes
Paint
Full windscreen and weather equipment
Heater
Carpeted interior
Cloth Seats

You just need to register and then you can download a full price list. The problem is, they won't let you buy a LHD car throuugh the UK, (probably). The agents in other countries are entitled to not be undercut by Caterham.
It does cost more to buy overseas because of this. Caterham will declare that it is to support the investment in the EU 4 metric chassis, but I feel it is just a surcharge.
It is only a rumour, but you may have a problem in Switzerland due to emissions regulations...

Thanks.
I know the dealer. They come across as very good and I almost bought a Caterham there 10 years ago. They thought they had a buyer for the GT3 I had and I was going to buy a 2nd hand car (a year old if I recall correctly), and I would of course pocketed the difference. However, deal didn't go through and then I changed jobs and go an M3 company car and then I got my daughter and two seaters were off the menu until this year!
Owner is a real character and an excellent racing driver. Not sure whether he still races but 10 years back he was winning classic F1 races.
If I buy one it will be from them but given the strong Swiss Franc the price seems extreme and I wonder if there is any room for manouvere.

If you want a new car, you need to get a move-on. The Caterham cannot be sold IN SWITZERLAND after August of this year due to pedestrian crash regs in Switzerland....
(I put those words in upper case to avoid a panic....)
Do you have more information on that? I was at the dealer yesterday and I told them if I were buying it would be for spring 2013 and they didn't mention anything and were quite happy to order the car and build it over the winter.(I put those words in upper case to avoid a panic....)

Finally clarified this by speaking to Kumschick. As long as car imported in 2012 then it is okay. They have 3 or 4 cars free i.e. on order from Caterham but not purchased. They intend to build up cars over the winter and register as of March 2013. So you are right, this is the last opportunity to purchase a new Caterham in Switzerland!(I put those words in upper case to avoid a panic....)
