As a slight aside; last winter 02/03 I bought and sold a 1998 Cerbera 4.2 which had done 91000 miles. It had fsh from Team Central and I was able to access their Service Computer, which showed that over £24k had been spent on servicing (plus tyres etc) and maintenance with them. This figure doesn't include insurance or petrol......

I would love to know what it was bought & sold for with that mileage?
Me, mine is 1993 K plate and I bought it almost exactly year with 33k on the clock - its now done 39k and spent about £3k on her - mainly on servicing, tyres and the new shocks were best part of £1k fitted.
Bought my N reg Chimaera 8th Dec 2001. currently 45K
Covered 8,000 miles so far.
Cost of servicing / repairs
(two TVR services, new PAS rack, new clutch, two oil changes between services, diff bushes, PAS pipe, fuel pump relay and chassis clean), drivers mirror = £1,500
Cost of modifications / enhancements
Wheels, suspension, stainless braided brake lines, clear lights, grill, leven parts, steering wheel, ICE, sports exhaust, cool running mods, front end paint to remove chips, polybushes = £3,100
Cost of insurance
£1,900
Tax
£500
Fuel(based on 20 mpg @ 80p litre)
£320
Cleaning products etc
£250
Total = £7,570 or 95p a mile!

So far I have had no problems and have not spent much money on the car (about £250). Fuel and insurance is better than my previous car.
I love it and my wife quite likes driving it. I think the car is great fun for not alot of money.

Mines a 94L and have owned it now for 2 months. Its now covered 56K. Bar the extrodinary amount of fuel it uses, the only bill I have had so far is for a handbrake failure which was, wait for it, just over £200. Mind you, I did get them to have a general look over and check whilst they were at it.
According to the paperwork I have, its had approx £20K spent in the last 6-7 years on general bits, mainly the engine rebuild though.

I would love to know what it was bought & sold for with that mileage?

If thats the one in yellow which had yellow wheels at the time, it's a PH member..... and is just about due 100k miles or thereabouts
'95 Chim - bought for £12500 on 65k, now on about 97k after one and a half years of ownership.
Repairs were pretty heavy to start off with but have chilled out in the last year or so.
I've spent between £4k and £5k on service and repairs since I bought it. Which considering the mileage I've done in it compared to others, isn't too bad!

New Brakes (my choice): c £500
Water pump changed: c £200
Insurance: c £1200
Car Recovery: c £150
New ignition system: c £300
To come? may be new cam / short engine upgrade (my choice, engine is currently running a dream); re-carpet (too damned picky me); stone chip repairs?? what to spend my money on first? (ffs don't tell the wife!!)

I did not include depreciation or anything in my £6000 not even fuel / insurance or servicing / wheels etc.
The £6000 is mainly due to the bloody thing breaking down and includes some of the following

strip down and rebuild inc heads checked.

+ about eleventy million £ spent on labour
add in depreciation fuel tyres mods (leven stuff) etc etc and I guess Iam looking close to £12000 in 18 months.
Some may say why not get read of it, but there comes a point when it is cheaper to keep it.

Everything except the camshaft seems to be the usual stuff that happens with Chims, so no surprises.
I guessed the cam work needed to be done - hence buying it cheaper.
I plan to get some stonechips sorted and also need to fix one of my mirrors, also do something about the cracked dash! But generally I don't anticipate spending much more on it over the next year or so - watch this space......

A new cam is not unusual on these engines either, though I would have expected it to last quite a lot longer than that.
Think I might need one soon (70k miles).

I have a 1996 Chim 4.0, bought for 10K with 89K on clock. Have had for 3 months its now reading 96K. Problems ive encountered are, Lambda Sensor, Suspension Bushes, and a good tune including plugs, leads, rotar arm and cap. Oh and the compulsory SNB802! Have spent less than £250 on it so far..
Its been the most reliable daily use car Ive owned to date, much better than my BMW, I love driving it and cant keep out of it...Hence my large overdraft!
Just found out tho my vac advance is not working now on distributor, anyone have one for sale or know where i can source one?
