I have sold my Alfa 156 GTA, which has the plate S10 GTA fitted (car specific you see, therefore not sad)

I am just about to buy a Xsara VTS, with a normal plate.

Would it be really sad if I transferred the plate S10 GTA onto the Xsara.

N.b plate is worth around 250 quid. Transfer cost is 80, retention cost 105. My now sold GTA is probably going to be broken.

You lucky bugger, your number plate matches your user name...what are the chances?

I'm more questioning the change in car tbh

As for the plate, it's not sad. It means something to you, albeit you probably got it for that car, don't worry what others thing

Finances. I don't want to get into debt, and I will be by the end of the year if I carry on.

Personally, the majority of people (non car folk, the ignorant, etc) probably would have just presumed GTA were your initials anyway and not car specific. I suspect the same will apply regardless of what car it's on.

It's not sad at all to keep the old plate.

I see lots of Range Rovers with X5 plates for instance.

I kept a 1983 "Y" plate and have transferred it twice although has no

significance to me.It is a short plate worth keeping......to me.

Plates shouldn't mean anything to anyone but you in my opinion. Mine is the start of my name. Has absolutely no relevance to car and has been on everything from a peugeot 406 to an M5 to an RS4. Its your plate...not the publics!

How do I transfer it to my new car? Do I need to wait for the new V5?

It goes with a GTA really. If you put it on another cra, it'll be a constant reminder that you dont have the GTA! Sell it on alfaowner or similar?
