Right, challenge.

£500, petrol powered, manual box, big enough to hold 3 six foot adults.

Hit me :-) :-)

Is one adult allowed to be in the boot?

If so, MX-5.

Alfa 155.

Then when there's only you driving you can have a right good blast!

and they CAN be had for that money.

Oh, you can also easily fit three full sets of golf clubs in the boot.

My Saab 9-5 cost me £500 and easily big enough.

Volvo 850 (or even 900 series) is a good shout as well andyou should have plenty of choice at 500 quid

Primera GT would be my vote for the price, especially if you can get one with leather. Very reliable, go quite well and have brilliant handling. A little soul-less but what can you expect for £500?

A friend of mine got a honda civic for £380 about a year and a half ago.

He did 22'000 trouble free miles in it, just the regular oil changes.

Sold it for £200.

So would recommend a honda of some sort.

Escort GTI, they're actually a really good car, they get some ok spec if you find the right one , (elec. windows, elec. mirrors, elec. sunroof, heated screen, air con, 1/2 leather etc) drive nice & cost buttons to run.

Both of mine were picked up for £500, (each) with long tax & test and were in really good condition.

My E38 740 is buyable for £500, just getting round to listing it on ebay at £895 or best offer, its a bit rough round the edges and ruinously bad on fuel though!

Edited to say its not manual either!

Id go the Saab 9000 route, I had a 2.3 cdi in manual a few years back, it was a non turbo but quick enough, very comfy, economicalish and nothing broke on it at all ever!
