Complete reupholster VX220 - Inspiration and ideas please!

Hi,

We have a VX220 Turbo which we are looking to reupholster. Just looking for some ideas and inspiration before we go ahead. Having a bit of a mental block with ideas!

The car is Coral Blue...like this:



and has plain black cloth interior, like this:



My brother's VX220 has this interior...





(not my pics BTW)

which is nice, but we're wondering what we can do differently. Any ideas? One thing we have decided is to fit those heated seat pads whilst the seats are apart, with a 5 setting switch on the dashboard. Would be nice to have heated seats in the car over the winter! We're also considering alcantara for the dashboard and door cards. We would like leather, and possibly alcantara on the seats. So what do you guys propose?

I always wonder why people don't put in patterns more but then again I do like houndstooth etc. more fun than just alcantara inserts - why not go crazy and put Missoni stripy blue fabric in?

If it were me I'd throw in a pair of Recaro spgs and flock the dash

Do the outer bits of the seats in dark blue alcantara, and the middle in a lighter blue leather, and get the back of the seat stiched with either the VX griffin or a VX220 logo.

Would alcantara not wear on the edge of the seat from getting in and out, or from the seatbelt?

Interesting idea, be a bit more expensive, but could be done.

personally i'd go with ferrari tan, obviously not to everyones taste but i think it looks wonderful with tour de france blue.

i am however the bloke who had that pascha check in a bright orange 911 that i posted above & perhaps should not be trusted with these types of decisions

Mine was blue but had the black and tan seats/arm rests which I didn't like so I had the tan leather dyed blue plus I fitted carbon door cards gear console and dash, it looked a lot better and the blue did not fade or wear off in 10K miles.

I have Blue, albeit a dark blue with cream, its really choice.

For Le Mans blue though, i'm thinking as has been said above, ferrari tan, I'd go perforated in the centres and standard on the bolsters.

Would make it look really luxurious. I'd go tan carpets too.

I'd stop at the Ferrari badge though.

Had these myself in an old VX220 NA, but must admit, I wasn't that keen on the colour...

So probably want a change from tan.

A few ideas on the gallery section here. These guys did my own seats. Have a look for pictures of the RR Evoque on the gallery. Similar colour scheme to what you're looking at.

Quite like the square shaped stitching on the VXR220 seats. Maybe get that integrated into the design...
