Hooking up mini system to PC / NAS
Discussion
Bit of a newbie in this area - so be gentle!
Been looking at the MARANTZ MCR603 Black & Monitor Audio BX2 package at Richer Sounds - reviews on both products are excellent. Was wondering how easy (or not!) it is to get my ripped CD's "visible" to the Marantz via a home PC or indeed a NAS?
I've not got a massive collection, so wondered if a wired connection between a PC and the Marantz would be enough (and indeed possible!), or would the files have to be streamed wireless?
Not had a NAS before so not too sure how easy these are to set up and work with PC's and indeed any potential mini system.
Any advice or thoughts?

Check out Squeezebox and Sonos for wireless streaming.
You could buy a lead - and connect your pc/ laptop direct to your amp, but you'd be using the pc's digital to analogue converter ( DAC ) which probably won't be up to much.
Another option is to connect your pc/laptop to an external DAC via USB which connects to your amp by phono/coax/optical for better sound quality.
Squeezebox has the advantage of a hand held controller and an iPad/iPhone app. If you use it on pc/laptop the machine has to be on. Using a compatable NAS gets round this.
Sonos uses its 'own' wireless network rather than your network.
Squeezebox duet system is best value for money 2nd hand off the 'bay, as it's now superceded by the Touch model which is supposed to have better sound quality.
If you've got deep pockets a lot of audiophile brands offer streaming solutions from £400 to several thousand.
