Hopefully someone can help me with these questions so I can impress sundry females (and my Dad) who regard me as the font of all knowledge on PCs, which I clearly am not.

Mate has a laptop which was ex-display. The shop claimed they had reformatted and reinstalled all software to clean off in store stuff. However, every time it starts up it asks you to "Enter CONNECT password". You can just hit enter to get past this, but it is annoying and we want to get rid of it. I tried fiddling with the power-on password settings, but it wasn't that.

Secondly, I have tied to network various PCs and whilst I have had no problem getting them to share an internet connection, trying to open and copy files from one PC to another seems to be impossible. Ideally I would like to just have access to everything on one PC from the other. Have tried on Windows XP - Xp and XP - 98 with no luck. Any thoughts on what I am doing wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Win98SE? get yourself tweakUI as this has settings to automatically log a user in (from experience it doesn't like logging people into networks without a lot of fiddling, but works fine with standalone machines).

WinXP - 98 requires you to run "netsetup.exe" from XP CD on the 98 box for a start. I'm assuming you have shared the required files correctly and set up the XP box to share files and folders?

Yup, but where do you go to actually see them?

Yeah, I've tried all the obvious stuff like that. It may just require some more fiddling around at home I suppose.
