Basically, looking for some input on what i should buy next.

I kind of blew my E36 up frown So currently stuck driving a 306 diesel to save myself some cash!

Saving up around £1000 to spend on my next car. Im not a fan of spending much over that, I dont mind buying cars with small issues, im competant with a spanner.

I'll start by saying what ive had previously and what i thought of them.

-Multiple Ford Escorts MK4/5/6 - Not interested in having another one to be honest.
-Ford Cougar 2L Zetec - Really liked this car, regret selling it.
-E36 318is - Enjoyed it, quite quick and fun to drive
-Volvo 340 - Retro goodness, I loved this car, but the Renault carbed engines in them are awful.
-EG Civic - Again i really liked this car, but the civic is becoming the new Saxo and the Honda scene is terrible nowdays.

Ok so i have small shortlist so far of what im tempted by. I'm idealy looking for input/advice/info on all of these and any other suggestions, i'll keep adding to the list as i save the money then decide when i have the money smile

-Another Cougar - Either 2L Zetec or a V6, I can just about stretch to insure a V6 And they're awesome biggrin

-106 Rallye - BADASS! Always loved the Rallyes, Cool little cars!

-Fiesta Zetec S - Cheap to insure, from what ive heard they're cool little pocket rockets?

-Mk2 Golf - Always liked them, getting rather common though, and idealy id want a GTI and they aren't that cheap to buy

-Volvo 340 - Tempted by another but as i dont like the 1.4 or 1.7 engine i'd want a Clio engine'd 16v One really.

-205 GTI - Again pure badass, Always had a thing for them!

-4'Th Gen EF Civic - Love the way these look for some reason and the 1.4 dual carbs are cool smile

Two things im not tempted by are Mx5's, Insurance is way too high for me for some reason. And a Puma, Drove one, honestly not a fan preffered the Cougar massively.

Also insurance needs to be taken into account, I'm 20, 1 Years NCB, 1 Accident, 0 Points.

Any suggestions/input welcome smile

Cheers! Dan.

Not suggesting it because I think its a good thing but my first car in about 02 was an F plate Volvo 360 GLT!

If you liked the 340 then the 360 was one with a spoiler and a 2.0 fuel injected engine of indeterminate origin, was still a heavy old tank but I had an indicated 120 out of it one day!

Mine lasted 4 months before a brisk exit off a wet roundabout introduced me to the world of over steer, lost it one way, caught it,felt great, then lost it the other way before heading backwards through a concrete pillar, earth embankment and into a stream, being a volvo though I walked away fine!

How about a mk2 Scirroco for something different,if not then I'd have the 205 gti from your list f you can find an ok one for a bag.

You sure about that..? Aren't they around 1100kg? Plus pretty much 50:50 weight distribution.

Honestly, I'd buy another one biggrin

I'm aware of the 360's however i still dont really want one, not a fan, maybe a GLT Saloon but they're getting rare!

Sorry then let me rephrase that, There getting very common for younger people to have, and as much as i like them its all the same dub crap now, Slam it on its arse and stick some BBS splits on it and post some shiny pictures on a dub forum to receive e-points. If i had one it'd be different, however as much as i like them im not sure i want one!

Bloody hell, you've owned some cack and appear to be contemplating more of the same, Cougars FFS ?!! wink
How dare you wink

I love the Cougar, it was underrated in my opinion, It's a mondeo with a different shell granted, but its cool (In my opinion!), and a mondeo is a good car biggrin

If you drive one you'll know what i mean, there's something about Fords, all my Escorts drove nicely despite not being overly good cars, the Cougar is the same, it drives nice smile

My dad still has one, he has done for the last 6 years, i had mine for about 5 months before getting offered double what i paid for it so i sold it on.

After driving my dads V6 one again today i am tempted by another biggrin

Difficult to get a MK2 Golf GTI that isn't rusting - I had a decent budget for a middle-market 16V, couldn't find one that was not rusting merrily away. I didn't want to spend top dollar on a minter, because using it 365 days a year would turn it in a rotter in no time. I eventually gave up on this alley, as much I like them (not those hideous "DUB" stheaps though) they are an old car now, and it shows. The insurance was not cheap either, my modified Cupra R 225 was only a few quid more to insure than a 16V. The 8V was a lot cheaper though.

Are the 1.6 XR2's Zetec engine or CVH engine?
