My dad got a good deal on a C5, needs a few repairs here and there ;-)
Its like a giant airfix kit , most of the parts seem to be bolt on ..
Can you get C5 glass front windscreens ok over here, as I don’t fancy my chances of importing one intact!!

If any of you super technical people out there can spot any major problems I might come across or parts I’ve missed out let me know.
The electrics might be a pain, but I’ll pass that onto a specialist!

When some thoughtful scum smashed the camaro windscreen when we were on holiday my insurance covered it all through RAC windscreens. Took a while as the first one shipped over was indeed scratched but eventually (about 6 weeks total) it was fitted. Don’t know the cost as I only paid the £50 excess but they did want all sorts of info so they didn’t get the wrong one as it was apparently quite expensive.

If the vette has a HUD make sure you get the correct screen as it apparently has a special coating, the standard one may work but probably not as well.

Should be able to get them through the Vauxhall dealer network too. Though you'll definitely want one paid for by your insurance, I think I remember seeing a price of around US$1200 !

6 weeks? That's not long!

I had an imported twin-turbo MR2 which took 3 months to get one piece of glass changed (door glass) and over a year to get the other done (rear quarter-light)! In the interim I had to go to a breakers and get a used blue tint instead of the gold tint that it came with... looked nasty!

That was Autoglass...

1998 Vette did not have the HUD so it should be easier to order. You will need to specify the tint colour at the top of the screen (blue) and that it is convertible as this will be different to the coupe glass. You will also need to order the plastic bits that hold the glass in as the RAC Autoglass people will probably break them getting the old screen out.
I got my C4 one done on insurance for £50 excess and RAC Autoglass in Basingstoke did an excellent job.
