I'm in the middle of fitting the disk brake conversion kit from axl gerstl.

The bit I'm failing at though is trying to get the bearings out of the old brake drums (see pic). I don't want to lean on it too hard for fear of breaking it.

Anyone got any tips / tricks? I don't have a blow torch and the whole of Maastricht closes on a Sunday so I can't get at one for a couple of days.

Breaking what, the drum or the bearing? Presumably the drum - do you have a welder to hand?

Actually, I don't care about the drum - it's not needed, like I said I'm upgrading to disks. I'd prefer to save the bearings.

Heh! Nothing to do with being a tightwad, it's an €800 upgrade kit, €50 on bearings isn't such a worry. I wanted to fit it at the weekend smile

Anyway, I took it to the garage this morning and he managed to hammer them out nicely in no time at all. Turns out I could hit em a lot harder than I thought without causing any damage.
