Im going to give my car a good clean tomorrow and went and bought all I need today, but the thing I am worried about is the "quick detailing spray" I need. When I bought my meguiars clay bar kit a while ago, it came with "quick detailing spray", I've only got a bit left so went to halfords to see if I could get some more, they only sold the "quick detailing spray" as part of the clay bar kit but I found some meguiars "ultimate quick detail spray", will this be ok to use while I'm claying my car??

I did ask in the shop and they said its the same stuff, just with a different label, I don't really trust their advice so was hoping someone on here might be able to help please

You can use anything as it is just a lubricant to stop the claybar sticking.I just use a bit of Gold class car wash diluted and spray that on.It works ok with no dragging of the bar.

I had your dilemma last year and the replacement meguiars did just fine, no idea if it's the same stuff though.

Thankyou, I was really unsure about using it in case I damaged the paint. Just gotta hope we have a rain free day tomorrow so I can spend a few hours on my car.

Quick Detailing Spray and clay lubricating liquid are different things, Shirley?

The latter is usually just very dilute shampoo or similar.

For future use, once you've finished your Meguires clay bar, Bilt Hamber's clay is excellent and only requires water as a lubricant which saves money and hassle. Can't recommend it highly enough.

In the meantime, as already stated, the QD you picked up will be fine, or make your own using a shampoo with good lubricity.

They are very similar products

You'd be better buying Bilt Hamber clay, cheaper than Megs, at least as good (I prefer it) and you only need water as a lube

Just checked the Meguiars I used as a replacement was the NXT speed detailer. This Moderator on the Meguiars forum linked below said NOT to use the Ultimate stuff as a replacement lube.

Cheers zb, I'm not gonna use it then, I'm gonna go back to halfords and buy another clay bar kit, then I know I'll be alright.

I've used the Meguairs (?) detailing spray with blu-tac; the blu-tac doesn't last as long as a clay bar but it is a lot cheaper, much more readily available and does a good-enough job for me as long as the bit I use is replaced every couple of panels hehe .

And no, I'm not trolling; I am serious! smile

Just fill the bottle with water and use as much as you need, or if you're that paranoid use the shampoo you wash the car but in a weak solution. Both are just as good as any supposed lube, but cheaper.
Don't fall for any marketing bullst wink

Blu-tac and dilute washing up liquid or £20 odd quids worth of clay bar and "special" lubricant, they can see you coming a mile off.

Buy a gallon of Meqs Last Touch.

Half fill your empty QD spray bottle and top up with water.

You can use this as a drying aid to.

Lasts for ages and is good stuff.

I went back to halfords and changed the meguiars stuff for some auto glym detailer, was cheaper as well.

Just finished the car, looks really good, it's 1st proper clean since I bought it 3 weeks ago.

Johnsons baby bath, 2 capfuls in a bucket. Works well as a quick detail, but can also be used instead of megs shampoo etc. Won't strip your wax either (If used as shampoo) not when claying obviously.
