Blocking members
Discussion
I think I already know what the answer to this is going to be but I'm going to ask anyway, just in case.
Is there a) a pre-existing way to or b) any possibility of/intention of providing a way to block the posts of an individual member from appearing to a logged-in user on the forums?
It strikes me that providing such a facility might quite significantly cut down on temper-losing and generally facilitatemy people's ability to turn the other cheek (fnar) and such when they find themselves getting frustrated with an individual.
And yes, yes, we're grownups, we're supposed to be able to just ignore people that are annoying us. I know. But some of us aren't very good at it.
Ta.

TBH I think it's about the same as it's always been, there are little swells one way and the other but the 'feel' doesn't seem much different to me now than when I joined just after the Hamster's accident in... whenever that was.Silver said:
I'm not sure why this keeps coming up. On other forums if you block members you can still see they've posted, just not the actual posts. And if other people quote them you can see their post so it's worthless.
Hadn't seen it discussed before (should perhaps have searched first, did have a quick look) - but I think it would have worth, even if quoting gets round it, it'd still cut out the vast majority of the blocked person's posts and do wonders for the blocker's blood pressure etc. Wanting to block someone is wanting not to see what they write, rather than wanting to stop them from writing it.Kinky said:

No.
Blimey, that was quick. Ta K.
It's a feature I'd love myself, but just not possible. Except as you say, to just ignore them (or ban them in my case)

Even being able to tell yourself you could ban someone if they're really getting up your nose must help sometimes...
