The kits are good and an easy introduction in to Home Brew. We've been brewing for a couple of years now using the kits and you can get some very good results with a cost of around 40p a pint and we've normally got a couple of 5 gallon barrells on the go.
Once you get the knack you can easily start tweaking the kits and adding ingredients. We did a black ale (with chocolately undertones) before Christmas but added oak chips soaked in Cherry brandy. It didn't last long. There are a few good companies that sell the kits, we tend to use Brew UK with no issues, good choice and price with quick delivery.
I did an Elderflower Champagne last year but not really tried it, all I know is it's a touch lively and you need to keep it somewhere safe when brewing in case the stuff explodes
Currently pregnant so no alcohol for the last 8 months and the OH has been enjoying all the Home Brew.
