Read on here somewhere it was worth using a top quality fluid in the P.S so i bought some Lucas fluid

I was surprised how contaminated the old oil was, since it has only been in 18 months,

How did you change the fluid or did you just siphon the fluid from the reservoir and change that?

I have an electric pump, so just took return pipe off and ran it into a plastic bottle, moving steering lock to lock
you could do the same with the engine running if your pump is off the front drive

Maybe these are silly questions (maybe not) but does it not cause any damage if it is run without fluid (I realise only temporarily) and does it need bleeding or will it 'naturally' bleed itself through use?
