...a jaguar s-type 4.0 V8.

I'm keen to get back into a V8 - it's been a long hiatus, but have no experience of jags - anyone have any experience they'd care to share?

Most of my experience has been in corvettes, which give incredible mpg for the size of their motors - am I in for a real shock with the s-type?

Also - are they generally reliable? I'd really like a hassle free, comfy driving barge experience, so any horror stories...?

All info much appreciated! :-)

I can see the appeal, but I'd be going for the 4.2 SC myself, 400 bhp, 5.3s to 60 - that's a barge that will surprise a lot of people!

Ask on the Jag forum and you'll get decent info. iirc the 4.2 (even non sc) is a far better choice.

A decent amount of car for the money and having travelled in one, yep, they go and sound right smile

Nice one, chaps - although the 4.0 V8s are going for decent shed money these days, so I recon that's what I'll have to go for (it's my commuter beast).

What's the fuel consumption like? 25 ish and I'm in, much less than that (motorway) and I may have to reconsider...
