Vantage Door Struts - Damping or support ?

If i park on a slight incline the doors wont stay open by themselves (they will on the level)
Should the door struts keep the doors open or are they for support and/or damping ?

They should keep the door open. Mine stay open even on quite a significant incline.

I bet they are just like the hatchback struts. When they fail, the boot lid tends to fall.

My drive has a 15 degree incline and the doors on my V8V don't stay open. Getting out is sometimes not very elegant

Sounds like your drive is the source of most of your problems. I suggest moving house?

I have discussed your suggestion with my wife and she has decided for us that moving is not an option

The door struts in my V8V got looser as time drew on. Not sure if there is a way to adjust the tension in them or not. After a year, the V12V door struts seem to be holding up well.
