My Mk3 has developed an 'interesting' smell inside the cabin, think slightly manky bin smell and you are there!

The smell has started to appear after it has been raining, naturally it disappears after the roof has gone down, only to reappear after it has been raining again.

I've had a look at the miata.net threads and it appears easy enough, if fiddly to clear the drains.

Another reason to hate the British summer!

It sounds like some sort of water leak. Are any of the carpets damp?

No damp carpets, that's the strange thing.

It only started apart it was valet parked whilst in Edinburgh, I've no idea if it was left somewhere especially damp, a week later though the smell still comes back when wet.

As the hoppers are behind the seats rain water does come into the car before channeling out infront of the rear wheels. so at times you may get that manky damp smell.

This, when I first got mine the drain holes were blocked... Kept an eye on them and never had an issue since.
