Nurburgring trip

Heillo all,
Not been on for a while as it is the hectic time of year with work and been abroad a lot excuses excuses! Anyway I am planning a trip down to Nurburgring for a few cars and friends, been before but a long (10 years) time ago has anyone got any advice for the actual logistical planning?
I'm not after comments saying don't bother etc as we are going to go, not just for the driving but as much for a boys couple of days away. Anything useful much appreciated regarding: routes there, channel crossing, accommodation and food, best times in week and anything else really?
Dates are not decided yet but in the next couple of months, obviously if anyone else wants to join your more than welcome it will be an eclectic mix of people and cars but all with a similar interest and disposition.
Any advice appreciated.....
