Bike rack on DB9

Hi all,

Been googling but no joy on the topic so answer is probably that its not possible, but...

Has anyone had a go fitting roof bars to a DB9... looking to get back into mountain biking and this could be my quick and cheap approach to transporting it.

Sadly that's a V8V.

He must have loaned his car to the owner of the brass DB9 while it was being cleaned

Sadly the OP hasn't got a V8V - mountain bikes fit in the hatch of those.

Can you fit a towbar to a DB9?

You could then use a rear carrier instead of a roof rack.

It really is a serious question... But actually tow bar would be great then I could trailer my track car. I've 3 cars and none of them practical - maybe time to get something more practical but have limited parking... mind kids getting bigger so probably need to think about something practical as some stage...

I can’t imagine anyone has tried this Stonic. Even the most careful, will inevitably have a mishap and suddenly it’s no longer a cheap

approach to transporting it; just a very expensive paint repair.

In fact, I’d go as far to say please don’t try it.

Tow bar on a DB9 - been done on a Virage - which is just a DB9 Mark II anyway

They changed the laws on tow bars around 1999 I think it was, if the manufacturer does not declare a maximum towing weight (Aston Martin say you cannot use it to tow) then using a tow bar is illegal in the UK, prior to this date it dies not apply.

I had an early XK8 and stuck a hook on it for pulling my track car around on, its scrubbed out the inside of the rear tyres within a few hundred miles, so not such a great idea in the end.

Assuming it's only you and your bike that you wish to transport, you may be able to actually fit your bike into the cabin of your DB9. Depending on the frame size (most M/B have a sloping top tube which helps) you can, if you take out both wheels and slide the passenger seat fully forward and lower the back of it as low as it will go actually fit the frame (well wraped up in a blanket)behind the drivers seat. The wheels need to go into decent padded wheel bags and they can be placed on the passenger seat. Visibility out of the rear window is a bit restricted though. Sad I know, but it worked for me.

I don't own an Aston. I haven't owned an Aston. But, I think you'd look bloody cool with a bike stuck on top of it. Much like snowboards on the back of the XK

No reason to think that with a bit of will it won't go in a DB9. Take pics if it does!
