Caught the 6pm ferry from dieppe, just docking now in newhaven. My mate broke his ankle badly on EXPO falling over, spent most of the day ferrying people to le man's hospital and then caught this ferry with mins to spare. He is going to be operated on tomorrow in the UK, his foot is pointing at a funny angle and he says ketamine is great.

Got back an hour ago after a nightmare drive - 2 hours stuck in traffic in Paris - 6.5 hours in total. The rest of the weekend was good though.

I got back at 10.30, having left Parking Vert as the Italian national anthem was being played.

As a Le Mans virgin, I was bowled over by the numbers of people who lined up to watch (and wave!) on the old RN between Le Mans and Alençon, and again on the bridges over the Péage to Calais.

Hangover - check
The squits - check

The race drivers have it easy, God knows how many miles I've walked this year, how many miles I've driven, how much rain I've been in, how much bad food I've eaten and how many nasty toilets I've visited. EXCELLENT...BACK AGAIN NEXT YEAR!!!

How rude!

We watched every car cross the finish line from the ACO stand, and then walked back to our car at Houx and then hit the road, there were no queues around the campsite or getting onto the bypass at the football stadium and then a gentle 130kmh cruise back to the tunnel, including a stop for fuel and sanger from the services north of Rouen.

We got to the tunnel around 1945 and onto the 2035 crossing.

I got from EPS's in Oxon back to Hampshire by midnight.

I conclude it was the simplest return journey back ever.
