Had my Fiesta st for over a year now and I can't quite figure out why it gets such a hard time off people?
Its probably been the most fun car I've owned, the only real downfall I have about it is the lack of 6th gear.
Should I not be enjoying this car? The way some people go on about the Fiesta ST is almost like I'm driving a Citreon 2cv.

I too have a Fiesta ST and my problem with it is that it's just not powerful enough. It's quick and handles amazingly but just doesn't have enough grunt (If you know what I mean).
However throw a bit of money at it such as a mountune kit and you'll find yourself beating the likes of Type R's/197's etc and all in a car you like more.

A good mate of mine has one and he loves it. It does drive very well, and seems pretty quick.
Only problems seem to be the lack of grunt - it was only just quicker than my ST24 without the IMRC working (around 125 bhp), and it seems to be very thirsty for what it is. The 2.5 V6 in my Mondeo got consistently better fuel economy than the 2.0 Fiesta.
The big alloys seem to give it traction problems in the wet as well which is a shame, but it does grip very well in the dry. Could still shake him off in the old Mondeo when the road got twisty though

I'd have one for practical reasons. It's a big car and has 3 full-size seat belts in the back (the Clio does too but it's very cramped and the Type R has only 2). I would also imagine the Fiesta is going to be more durable and cheaper to run than the Clio.
Ultimately, however, the last gen Fiesta is a great looking car - it's chunky and quite a masterpiece of understated design - the Clio looks a bit twee in comparison. I'd be buying one if they were in my "runabout" price range like the 182s are.

My mate had one. My thoughts on the car are that it is pretty good, handles well and is good fun. The seats were a little too high up for my liking and the engine, whilst brisk, always felt like it came from a normal saloon car rather than being set up for a hot hatch. Not a bad car though.
